The city is shutting down the outside travel lanes in the 100 block of City Park Avenue beginning Monday (March 6) at 7 a.m. A single travel lane will be open to traffic in each direction.
The closure from Canal to the interstate is expected to last two months. The lanes are scheduled to reopen on May 5 at 5 p.m.
Crews with Department of Public Works contractor Hard Rock Construction to repair drain lines and install a new water line as part of the $24.4 million Mid-City Group B Project.
Signage and traffic control measures, such as barricades, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians to the safest route of travel.
The Mid City Group B Infrastructure Improvement Project includes removing, replacing and repairing existing water, sewer and drainage lines, repaving the roadways, installing new sidewalks when necessary and installing American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at all intersections. The project is currently scheduled to begin wrapping up in the fall of 2023.
