
A shooting and an armed robbery were reported early Thursday (Feb. 16) in Mid-City, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
At about 4:30 a.m. a man noticed a gunman wearing in the 2800 block of St. Louis Street. The gunman fired two shots, striking the victim in the leg.
The armed robbery occurred at Tulane Avenue and Scott Street at about 1:50 a.m. The victim was walking in the area when a man with a knife approached and demanded his property.
The victim told him he didn’t have any money, but the robber took his wallet after searching the victim’s clothing. He then fled on bicycle, heading toward downtown.
Police later arrested, Joseph Pitts, 44, in the incident. Pitts was booked into Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of armed robbery at 8:40 a.m. His bond had not been set by noon on Thursday.
