504 Festival to debut Saturday at Rosenwald Rec Center

The inaugural 504 Festival will be held Saturday afternoon (Sept. 24) at Rosenwald Park and Recreation Center.

The free festival will feature live music, food vendors, a car and bike show, family workouts, a kids zone and a basketball tournament featuring special guests. The five-hour event will bring together families in the Mid City community to enjoy a day of fun for a good cause.

The event will support support a non-profit providing opportunities for New Orleans youth. Lyisha Allen, founder of Prom 4 NOLA, and Alton Alexis, owner of The Bundle Gang Hair Co., created the festival to directly support Prom 4 NOLA. The organization is aimed at providing opportunities for New Orleans’ youth to learn about teamwork, respect and improve self-esteem through teaching discipline and leadership skills.

Every year the organization gives more than 30 Orleans Parish high school seniors an all-expense-paid senior prom experience. Nominations for young men and women deserving of receiving the ultimate prom experience including formalwear, hair and makeup are now being accepted at www.prom4nola.com.
