On Thursday (June 23), the city closed two lanes in the 200 block of North Carrollton Avenue as it installs a waterline. The uptown-bound lanes from Iberville Street to Bienville Street will be closed through July 1.
City roadwork contractor Hard Rock Construction is installing of a water line as a part of the Mid-City Group B reconstruction project.
Lane closures and detour signs will remain in place throughout this phase of construction. Street parking is impacted, and residents and visitors must adhere to any “No Parking” signs on the streets to avoid being ticketed and towed. Accommodations will be made to ensure access for customers of the businesses on that block.
The $24.4 million Mid-City Group B reconstruction project calls for removing and replacing existing water and drainage lines, repairing the sewer line, repaving roadways in asphalt or concrete, replacing damaged sidewalk and driveway aprons, and installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections. All work on this project is anticipated to be complete by fall 2023.
