Man shot to death on Dumaine and Broad, an area known for gang violence

A man was shot to death Friday (Dec. 17) at North Broad and Dumaine streets.

At around 4:30 p.m., NOPD First District officers responding to a call found Michael Rogers, 36, suffering from gunshot wounds. Rogers was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Police announced at 5:12 p.m. that the incident had been reclassified as a homicide.

The area has a history of gang-related gun violence. In April 2020, Glynn McCormick, 33, was gunned down on Dumaine and North Broad just days after being released from Orleans Parish Justice Center, where he had been held on racketeering charges.
