A failed armed robbery and a shooting were reported in Mid-City over the weekend.
On Sunday (Sept. 26) afternoon, a 66-year-old man was held up at gunpoint by a woman on South Dupre near Banks Street. The would-be robber, however, left empty handed.
The victim was in his car in the 400 block of South Dupre Street at about 2:20 p.m. when a woman walked up to the passenger side.
She took out a gun and demanded he turn over his property. After he told her he had nothing, she ransacked his car and fled.
The shooting occurred Friday (Sept. 24) morning at D’Hemecourt and South Cortez Street.
The victim, a 27-year-old man, was outside in the 3700 block of D’Hemecourt at about 11:15 a.m. when gunmen arrived and opened fire. He was struck multiple times.
The victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
