Overnight shooting on Tulane Avenue leaves one dead, two injured

A man was killed early Sunday (Sept. 19) in a Tulane Avenue shooting that also left a woman and another man injured, the New Orleans Police Department reported.

The triple shooting occurred about 10 minutes after midnight in the 3900 block of Tulane, between South Pierce and South Scott streets.

A gunmen in a passing car opened fire on a crowd of people on the sidewalk, police said. One of the victims returned fire.

First District police officers responding to the shooting found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a woman who took a bullet to her backside.

Medical responders transported the three victims to a nearby hospital, where one of the men died.

Police said they did not know the identity of the homicide victim. The other male victim is 32; the woman is 22.
