Two people were fatally shot at the intersection of North Broad Street and Bayou Road early Monday (July 26).
Police said that a man and woman were driving toward the river on Bayou Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up next to them. Someone from inside the car started shooting. The shooter then fled on North Broad Street, according to the NOPD.
The woman was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. She was 23.
The other victim, a 25-year-old man, arrived at the hospital in critical condition and died in the next few hours. The NOPD announced his death at about 4:20 a.m.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and release an official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
