The NOPD has arrested Angelyc Seely, 35, in the investigation of the stabbing death of an infant boy on Saturday (July 17) in the 1400 block of North Broad Street.
The infant was found dead Saturday evening in a bicycle trailer on Broad Street off the Bayou Road corridor, the New Orleans Police Department reported.
At about 6:24 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a disturbance at Broad and Columbus Street. Upon arrival, officers found an infant with apparent stab wounds inside the trailer. The baby boy was declared dead at the scene.
An adult female, later identified as Seely, was transported from the scene by
the Emergency Medical Service for treatment of self-inflicted wounds.
Seely was determined to be the infant’s mother. NOPD Homicide Unit detectives identified her as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant on a charge of second-degree murder.
Upon release from medical care, Seely was placed under arrest and transferred to the Orleans Parish Justice Center. She remained jailed Monday on $500,000 bond.
No further information was immediately available.
