Jazz Fest 2021 is moved to October, media reports state

There will be a New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 2021, but it won’t take place until October, according to multiple media reports. Jazz Fest organizers have not yet made an official announcement on the festival’s schedule for this year.

Offbeat Magazine first reported the October dates on Friday, followed by NOLA.com and WWL-TV, each media outlet citing unnamed but knowledgable sources.

The city’s largest music festival is expected to take over the Fair Grounds Race Course for the weekends of Oct. 8-10 and Oct. 15-17. It is not clear whether the schedule will include the second Thursday.

In 2019, for the 50th anniversary, an eight-day Jazz Fest packed the Fair Grounds.

The Jazz Fest website announces the cancelation of the 2020 festival and states the 2021 Fest will take place April 22 to May 2, dates that are now prohibited because of the national spike in COVID-19 cases. The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation reportedly met virtually on Thursday evening to discuss the 2021 Fest.

Voodoo Fest is scheduled to take place Oct. 29-31 in City Park.

  1. this sucks as I live just 2 blocks from fairgrounds and down the street from city park and so for three straight weeks there will be noise, chaos, no street parking for those of us without driveways and traffic. terrible timing. who thought that was a good idea needs to get another job.
