Woman carjacked near Bayou St. John

A woman was carjacked near Bayou St. John early Tuesday (Jan. 12) morning, the New Orleans Police Department reported.

The 23-year-old woman stopped her car at the intersection of Grand Route St. John and Moss Street shortly before 1 a.m. A red four-door sport utility vehicle approached, and three armed men got out.

They pointed a gun at the woman and ordered her from car. She complied, and the carjackers fled in both vehicles.

A social media post at 11 a.m. states that the victim was not hurt but remains very shaken by the experience.

Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD First District station at 504-658-6010 to speak to a detective, or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
