Cinco de Mayo, which happens to fall on a Taco Tuesday this year, is a good time for tacos and margaritas to-go.
“We know #CincoDeMayo is tomorrow,” Mayor LaToya Cantrell tweeted yesterday. “However, we would like to remind you the city’s stay at home order is still in effect. Continue to exercise social distancing and celebrate all festivities at home.”
Felipe’s Taqueria prides itself on its Cinco de Mayo celebrations. And this year is no exception. The difference is that the 2020 celebration is virtual.
“Due to the extended stay at home order, Felipe’s will go virtual with a Cyber Cinco de Mayo complete with a Facebook live show hosted by Elio Piedra.
The four-hour event begins at 6 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 5) with performances by Jose Fermín, Will Dickerson, Mariachi Juarez International, Elio Piedra, Bailanow, and Matt Freed.
To-go orders of Felipe’s family meal and gallons of hand-squeezed margaritas will be available at 411 N. Carrollton Avenue to accompany the real-time mariachi, salsa, pop, rock, merengue, reggaetón and bachata acts.
The Cyber Cinco de Mayo will be broadcasting live at @FelipesNola on Facebook.
