After a man was carjacked and pistol-whipped Tuesday on South Pierce Street, detectives are still looking for the car that was taken from him or any other leads that could help with the investigation, New Orleans police said.

The victim parked his car — a 2004 white Nissan Maxima with Louisiana license plate “911 BCR” — in the 700 block of Pierce Street on Tuesday, July 24, but was confronted as he got out by two men wearing ski masks and gloves who ordered him to the ground, the report in the case states. One hit him in the back with a small handgun as he began to kneel down, and the other hit him in the head with a gun, the report states.

The gunmen took his cell phone and his backpack, which had two cameras with their batteries and their chargers, then drove off on his car in a southbound direction on Gravier Street, the report states. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, the report states.

The stolen Maxima has yet to be found, so anyone who sees it or has any other information that could assist detectives is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
