A man in his early 20s was confronted by an armed carjacker waiting inside his vehicle Monday afternoon on Banks Street, and then forced to undress at gunpoint during the robbery, New Orleans police said.

The victim got into his vehicle around 5:15 p.m. Monday, April 20, in the 3800 block of Banks Street (near South Cortez), but discovered that a man was already inside, according to the initial NOPD report.

“The subject demanded that he take off his clothes then took his car keys [and] money,” the report states.

The gunman then forced the victim out of the vehicle and drove off in it, the report states.

The Banks Street carjacking was preceded about 30 minutes earlier by another carjacking on St. Anthony Avenue just off Robert E. Lee Boulevard by the lakefront, in which a man in his late 40s had his BMW taken at gunpoint. Police have not said whether the two carjackings show any apparent connections.
