The celebrated Ladybug Roller Coaster has returned to City Park, just in time for the spring season to open Friday at Carousel Gardens Amusement Park.
The new roller coaster, which was created in Deggendorf, Germany, will join the amusement park’s other two cafés and 17 rides.
The rides, which cater to kids and adults of all ages, are “guaranteed to put a smile on your face, including the Park’s namesake antique wooden carousel,” according to a press release issued by park officials.
There is a minimum height of 52″ or 40″ with a paid adult to ride the Ladybug Roller Coaster. With 10 cars each holding two seats, the new ride is larger and faster with a larger footprint than its predecessor, according to officials.
The old Ladybug Roller Coaster was closed due to structural corrosion caused by Hurricane Katrina and was dismantled in August 2013.
The amusement park is also welcoming Parker’s Pizza, which uses traditional Italian ingredients such as garlic buttered curst and fresh mozzarella. The City Park mascot, Parker, prides himself on making the pizzas. Parker’s Pizza offers pizza by the slice, a 16” large pizza, and an assortment of desserts. The amusement park restaurant also serves beverages, including beer and wine.
Season Passes to the amusement park are now available. Park-goers can connect with officials on social media using the hashtag #iheartcitypark.
The cost of admission is $4 a person. Kids 36 inches and under receive free admission, as do Friends of City Park. An unlimited ride band is $18, and rides are $4 each.
Paid admission to the amusement park also includes admission to the Botanical Garden and Storyland.
