Police are searching for this man in connection to wire theft that left parts of the city without power last week (via NOPD).

New Orleans Police are asking for the public’s help identifying and locating a man seen on surveillance footage stealing wire from an Entergy substation.

First District officers responded to a theft of a large amount of wire from the Entergy substation located in the 1800 block of Julia Street on Thursday, police said. Approximately 50 pounds of copper-weld wire was stolen from the location, resulting in the loss of power across parts of the city.

Police discovered an unknown black male was trespassing and tampering with the stolen wire at the location on multiple occasions between the dates of June 20-29, between the hours of 3-6 a.m.

The suspect observed is a black male, thin build, approximately between the ages of 20 to 35 with a beard or unshaven face.
