New Orleans Police are searching for a man seen on surveillance video attempting to break into a Treme home Tuesday afternoon.

An unknown black male was seen on surveillance video jumping over the rear fence of the victims’ home on the 1200 block of Marais Street. He then attempted to gain entry through the rear door but was unable to do so, police said.

The suspect was then seen walking on the side of the house, away from the view of cameras, where he entered the home through the kitchen window.

At about 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, the victims left their residence locked and secured before heading to work, police said. The next day, the victims returned home at around 12:51 a.m. where they discovered the interior of their home ransacked. As they proceeded to the rear of the house, they discovered the side kitchen window forcefully open.

The suspect was seen wearing a white tank top, blue jean shorts and blue tennis shoes. You can watch the surveillance video of the incident here.
