Last week was the rare week at The Broad where we had all four screens devoted to big-budget mainstream fare. We know however that you love it when we bring you films from off the beaten path so this week we have three films that you aren’t going to find anywhere else in this city.

STALKER has been one of those movies that used to get passed around on dirty VHS tapes from one film lover to the next. Now you have the opportunity to see this classic soviet science-fiction film on the big screen in a restored digital print courtesy of Janus Films. This post-apocalyptic tale is a classic example of Sci-Fi as allegory from the great Soviet director Andrei Tarkovsky who also gave us SOLARIS.

DAVID LYNCH: THE ART LIFE is an intimate look into the mind of one of the greatest American filmmaker before he shot his first film. In looking into the childhood and young adulthood of David Lynch we find the moments and influences that later shaped such visionary works as ERASERHEAD, WILD AT HEART, and of course TWIN PEAKS.

IT COMES AT NIGHT is one of those horror films where the less you know going in, the more rewarded you’ll be by the time you finish watching it. Taking place in the woods with a mysterious disease turning the world upside-down, a group of survivors are forced to make some truly horrible decisions to stay alive. Early reviews are declaring this a well-crafted tale that doesn’t follow the predictable path set by so many “cabin in the woods” stories. Prepare to be astounded.

WONDER WOMAN and CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS: THE FIRST EPIC MOVIE will both continue, and the response we’ve had to the former is nothing less than extraordinary. Our women-only screening sold out in 24 hours, and we could not be happier with all the support we’ve gotten from our guests. We look forward to seeing everyone who got tickets on Thursday, and we’ll be greeting you with a staff made up entirely of the women who help make this theater the place you love to visit.
