The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after two suspects stole a man’s dog, along with other, less furry, valuables.

Third District officers responded to the 2900 block of Ursulines Avenue on Tuesday after the victim reported a simple robbery. The victim said two unknown black men approached him from behind while he was coming back from Pal’s Lounge around 11:45 p.m., police said.

The suspects went through the victim’s pockets and took his wallet, keys, cellphone and dog, police said.

“I don’t know enough about the investigation to tell you why the suspects took his dog, but he does have that dog back,” First District Commander Hans Ganthier said. “So there’s that.”

The suspects fled in an unknown direction and officers are still investigating, police said.

  1. I don’t find your “less furry” comment humorous in the least…

    • Exactly. It was devastating to him to have his dog taken – luckily he did get it back, but I’m sure there was nothing humorous about this robbery.

  2. Stealing one’s dog is the height of being a LOSER of the highest order!!!!
