Friends of City Park has plans to expand the park’s recycling program, thanks to Louisiana’s anti-litter and community improvement organization.
The organization was awarded the Healthy Communities Grant by Keep Louisiana Beautiful for a total of $5,385, according to a press release from Friends of City Park.
The grant facilitated the expansion of the park’s recycling program by funding 20 stand-alone recycling bins, which were placed around the highly-populated areas of Festival Grounds and Big Lake.
“Standing next to the classic steel trash bins, they allow for a much-needed increase in collection capacity,” the release said. “Relocation of the dual trash-recycling bins that were previously within the Festival Grounds and Big Lake areas to locations such as the New Orleans Botanical Garden provides even further outreach and promotion of recycling.”
