Looking for a free way to entertain your family on a Friday night? Try a family-friendly movie in the park.
The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission released their 2017 movie schedule, which includes family-friendly blockbusters spread throughout Fridays in the spring. This season’s features include ‘The Secret Life of Pets,’ ‘Zootopia’ and ‘Finding Dory,’ as well as some classic such as ‘E.T’ and ‘The Jungle Book.’
NORDC will provide a large portable outdoor movie screen, licensed DVD, trash receptacles and restrooms. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic provisions.
Community organizations and neighborhood associations will provide concessions, a volunteer cleanup crew and a table showcasing upcoming neighborhood events.
Movies in the Park is free and open to the public. However, participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
No pets, alcoholic beverages, illegal firearms, weapons, smoking or cooking are allowed during the event.
Before each screening, Fit NOLA Parks program instructors will lead fitness activities. This season, each film screening will have an alternate, indoor location in case of inclement weather.
Movies begin around 7:30 p.m. and this Friday’s feature is ‘The Secret Life of Pets,’ located at Pontchartrain Park, 6500 Press St.
