Our neighbors ask us all the time to play a crazy variety of films and we strive to pack as many of their requests into our four screens as possible, all while picking more obscure films that we think audiences should have a chance to see on the big screen. After a few weeks on focusing on smaller titles, we are going Hollywood this week with two titles that are sure to play to two WILDLY different audiences.

On one side of the spectrum comes THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE. When The LEGO Movie came out in 2014 it became the rare kids movie that jumped over to become an adult favorite. With this new installment, the focus is on the caped crusader (voiced by Will Arnett), and if the early reviews are any indication, we expect to be selling Junior Mints and Pimm’s Cups in equal measure for this weekend’s screenings.

ON the other side, we get FIFTY SHADES DARKER, the second installment in the sexy and sensual Fifty Shades trilogy. After asking around staff at The Broad, we can safely say that this film is not about charcoal drawings or Crayola searching for a new color. Whatever the film is about, we will be offering a variety of drink specials, and we hope that we can be the home for your next date night.

I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO played in just 43 screens this past weekend across the U.S. to record attendance for a documentary. As the weekend continued, we started hearing reports that visitors were coming to The Broad from Lafayette and Baton Rouge. Then from the rest of the state, with some unconfirmed reports of out-of-state travelers. This weekend, we continue to be the only theater in the NOLA metro area screening the film, so we do recommend buying your tickets through TheBroadTheater.com or through our friends at Fandango to avoid missing out on the most talked about film in recent memory.

HIDDEN FIGURES continues its improbable run at The Broad this week with most of its showtimes in our intimate Screen 3. Seat yourself in one of our extra comfy seats and enjoy the powerful true story behind the early days of the space race while enjoying our new ice cream flavors. You’ve been asking for more dessert options, so we now feature coffee-encased ice cream bars as well as a new ice cream sandwich from the fine folks at New Orleans Ice Cream.
