A woman was robbed of her belongings on South Carrollton Avenue overnight by a man she had accepted a ride from thinking he was an Uber driver, New Orleans police said Wednesday morning.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was robbed around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Feb.8, in the 4200 block of South Carrollton (near Tulane Avenue), according to the initial NOPD report.
“The victim got into the vehicle with a male she thought was her Uber driver,” the report states. “Before the victim got out of the vehicle the driver demanded her bag containing $140, debit cards and her ID.”
Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD First District station at 658-6010 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
