The victims — four men ranging in age from 23 to 25 — were standing next to their vehicles in the 4100 block of Tulane Avenue (near South Hennessey Street) shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, according to the initial NOPD report. Two armed men approached, demanding that they empty their pockets, and three of victims complied but the fourth refused, the report states.
One of the gunmen grabbed the chain off the uncooperative victim’s neck, and all four began to run, the report states. As they fled, a shot was fired, hitting the victim who had resisted the armed robbers, the report states.
The incident was preceded by another robbery close by the night before. Around 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, a man in his 30s was getting out of his vehicle in the 4100 block of South Carrollton (near Tulane Avenue) when he was confronted by two armed men, the report in that case states.
“The subjects demanded the victim’s wallet, phone, and keys,” the report states. “The victim complied and both subjects fled inside of a red pickup truck.”
