First Grace United Methodist Church will host “Congregations for the Coast”, an opportunity for faith communities of the Greater New Orleans area to learn about the latest coastal master plan, see the new flood maps, and talk with others about how to get involved in “caring for our coast”.
The event takes place on Saturday, October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include small group conversations, environmental organization tabling, and featured speakers.
“Congregations for the Coast” will be hosted at the First Grace United Methodist Church, located at 3401 Canal Street in Mid-City. Featured speakers include Colette Pichon Battle, Esq. of Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy; Karim Belhadjali of Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority; and Vincent Grossi of Presbyterian Church USA.
The event schedule is as follows:
- 10 to 10:45 a.m.: Coastal Advocacy Organizations (with coffee & pastries)
- 10:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.: Presentations & small-group discussions on “Caring for our Coast” with featured speakers
- 12:45 – 2:00 PM: Continued discussions & meet with Coastal Advocacy Orgs.
