A man was robbed by a group of people on Canal Street in Mid-City Monday, police said.

A man was robbed on the 4200 block of Canal Street near South Solomon Street Monday night, police said.

He was on his way back from getting “a couple of drinks” at about 11 p.m. when he was robbed by three or four people, according to a report given by Sgt. Cyril Davillier during a regular Third District meeting Tuesday.

“He said just take what you want, take what you want,” Davillier said.

The suspects took his wallet, but not his cell phone, Davillier added.

The crime was classified as a simple robbery, according to the New Orleans Police Department’s crime mapping system.
