Sandra Bullock wins humanitarian award for work with Warren Easton

Sandra Bullock will be presented with a humanitarian award for her continued work with Warren Easton on national television at the People’s Choice Awards 2013 Wednesday evening.

“She’s our guardian angel,” said Warren Easton alumni and ex-oficio board member Arthur Hardy.

Bullock began working with Warren Easton shortly after Hurricane Katrina said Hardy. He said she has supported the school in many different ways, donating money for college scholarships, an auditorium renovation, band uniforms and helping fund a school-based health clinic.

A short video she filmed at the school in November 2012 will air during the show said Hardy.

“She loves the school, the kids, and this city,” said Hardy, “It’s been a true blessing for her to discover us.”

Bullock is receiving the show’s first ‘Favorite Humanitarian’ award. The show will air live nationally, beginning at 8 p.m. on CBS.
